Post by Jack CannonCan anyone comment on the relative merits of using Web Developer
versus Web Expressions versus DotNet?
Expression is a design tool and better with CSS and other design
elements than Visual Studio (whether Visual Studio is Express or full).
Conversely, Expression sucks when you have to code.
As for Express versus full, the Express is a neutered product which is
missing many of the productivity bits in the full version(s) of Visual
Studio (of which I would personally only recommend Professional or
higher, as moving from Express to Standard gives you so little added
benefit).
If you can get your work done in Express, then stick with Express. If
you find you need additional productivity bits or templates, you have to
buy Visual Studio.
As for Expression, if you are a drag and drop "developer", you can do
your ASP.NET work in Expression. If you are designer, ditto. If you need
to do some serious coding, you will not be happy.
I use Expression and Visual Studio for my work, as each tool is
different. It is much like I use both a screwdriver and a hammer,
depending on what my current problem is.
peace and grace,
